Barbados is part of the Caribbean region in the continent of the Americas. The name Barbados is believed to have derived from the Spanish words, Bearded ones. It is in the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, near the equator and is 431 square kilometres in size. The primary language spoken is English, the capital city is Bridgetown, and the main currency used is the Barbados Dollar.
