South Korea is part of the Eastern Asia region in the continent of Asia. The name South Korea is believed to have derived from the Korean term meaning lofty, the local name of a tribe believed to have been called Guru or Gauri and is also known as the Land of the Morning Calm. It is in the Northern hemisphere and is 98.5 thousand square kilometres in size. The primary language spoken is Korean, the capital city is Seoul and the main currency used is the South Korean Won.
