Costa Rica is part of the Central America region in the continent of the Americas. The name Costa Rica is believed to have derived from the Spanish words, which means rich coast. It is in the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, near the equator and is 51.1 thousand square kilometres in size. The primary language spoken is Spanish, the capital city is San José, and the main currency used is the Costa Rican Colon.
