Rwanda is part of the Eastern Africa region in the continent of Africa. Rwanda's name is believed to have derived from the Kinyarwanda word meaning expand and is also known as Land of a Thousand Hills. It is in the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, near the equator and is 26.3 thousand square kilometres in size. The primary languages spoken are Kinyarwanda, English and French; the capital city is Kigali and the main currency used is the Rwanda Franc.
