Tanzania is part of the Eastern Africa region in the continent of Africa. Tanzania's name is derived from the blend of two of its original names, Tanganyika and Zanzibar. It is in the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, near the equator and is 945.1 thousand square kilometres in size. The primary languages spoken are Swahili and English; the capital city is Dodoma and the main currency used is the Tanzanian Shilling.
