New Zealand is part of the Australasia region in the continent of Oceania. The name New Zealand is believed to have derived from the Dutch province known as Zeeland, which means sea land and is also known as the Land of the Long White Cloud. It is in the Southern hemisphere and is 268.7 thousand square kilometres in size. The primary languages spoken are English and Māori; the capital city is Wellington and the main currency used is the New Zealand Dollar.
